starting from july 21, passengers to china are required to obtain covid-19 negative certificates before boarding.

  • domestic inbound 
personnel returning or coming to beijing from medium- and high-risk areas are required to undergo 14-day home quarantine or quarantine at designated places, and take a covid-19 nucleic acid test. 
 
personnel travel from low-risk areas: no quarantine required, but green health code and temperature check are needed. 
 
high-risk personnel (confirmed cases, suspected cases, people with a fever, etc) and those who have close contacts with high-risk personnel cannot enter beijing.
 
discharged persons from hospital need to undergo 14-day quarantine at designated venues.

starting from june 8, all international flights to beijing are currently being redirected to one of 16 other cities (chengdu, changsha, hefei, lanzhou, tianjin, shijiazhuang, taiyuan, huhhot, jinan, qingdao, nanjing, shenyang, dalian, zhengzhou, xi’an, wuhan). 
 
once travelers with negative nucleic acid test results complete their 14-day mandatory quarantine in these other cities, if they proceed to beijing on the same or following day, they will not be subject to further mandatory quarantine requirements in the capital. otherwise, he/she will be subject to another 14-day mandatory quarantine upon arrival in beijing. 
 
after mandatory 14-day quarantine (either in entry city or in beijing), it is recommended to monitor body temperature and report to local community if shows any symptom. 
 
  • outbound
starting from june 16, people from high- and medium-risk areas of beijing and related personnel of xinfadi market are not allowed to leave beijing. from july 4, people from low-risk areas of beijing can leave beijing without providing negative nucleic acid test result.

  • domestic inbound
travelers from medium- and high-risk areas, or from low-risk areas of beijing: no restrictions if a negative nucleic acid test result done within 7 days can be provided or a green health qr code with the negative test result can be provided. travelers without a negative test result are subject to an immediate test at their arrival or a 14-day mandatory quarantine. 
 
travelers from other low-risk areas: no restrictions if a green health code can be provided and the body temperature is normal.

all inbound travelers need to complete a nucleic acid test and those who test positive will be sent to local hospital for treatment. travelers from or that have traveled to areas classified as ‘severe epidemic areas’ and that have a negative test result are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine at designated venues. 
 
travelers from non-severe epidemic areas that have negative test results are required to conduct a 14-day self-quarantine and be included in their community health management. 
 
  • outbound
no restrictions on the travel, but the international flights from chongqing are currently limited.

all travelers from medium- and high-risk areas must complete a nucleic acid test and 14-day mandatory quarantine. however, those who can provide negative test results within 7 days at arrival can be exempted from the test.

travelers from high-risk areas are required to take a nucleic acid test and undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine at designated places. 
 
travelers from medium-risk areas are required to take a nucleic acid test at arrival and comply with the community health management, including providing health notice and green health code, carrying out health consultations, etc.

good news! china on august 5 will resume visa services for south korean students, employees hired to work in the country and those with residence permits.

△ last week, korean ambassador to china jang ha-sung has told reporters that china will resume visa issuance to south koreans. 
 
the chinese embassy and consulates in south korea will resume visa issuance for south korean citizens who plan to go to the country for work, study with valid residence permits, in order to further facilitate personnel exchanges.

according to the notice on the implementation, the procedures of the application are as follows: 
 
  1. fill out the visa application form online via the website of chinese visa application service center (http://www.visaforchina.org); 

  2. make an appointment;

  3. print out the confirmation page and the form; 

  4. sign the confirmation page and the 9th section of the form; 

  5. submit the application form and other required materials to the center at your scheduled appointment time.

△ the list of the designated medical institutions

 
according to the visa application service center, no appointment is required in the following cases, in which applicants only need to fill out and print the online application form, and submit documents directly to the chinese embassy or consulates in korea: 
 
  • diplomatic, official (service) passport holders;
  • korean ordinary passport holders with a note issued by the ministry of foreign affairs of korea;
  • members of foreign embassies or international organizations in korea as well as their family members;
  • members of korean national assembly; 
  • humanitarian emergency situations, such as attending a funeral or visiting a critically ill patient, etc. 
for those who have valid residence permits issued by  chinese public security department, they can apply for a visa related to their permits. copies of your passport and residence permit are also required. 
 
for example, if you hold a valid residence permit for reunion, you can apply for a q visa; if you hold a work-type residence permit, you can apply for a z visa.

for those who are going to study in china without valid residence permits, they need to submit the original visa application form for study in china (form jw201 or form jw202) issued by the chinese ministry of education and stamped by the relevant department, and the admission letter issued by the school. 
 
for those who are going to work in china without valid residence permits, they need to submit the notice of work permit.
 
meanwhile, in order to ensure the health safety during the international trip and reduce the risk of cross-border spread of the pandemic, applicants need to submit a health declaration form when submitting the application form.

a ‘2 12’ quarantine measure will be adopted for those who enter china by charter planes via the fast track

after entering the country, they need to take a covid-19 nucleic acid test and undergo a 2-day quarantine for medical observation. then they will be transferred to their home or workplace if the test result is negative. during the 14-day period after the entry, they are allowed to commute between home and work only
 
after that, they need to take another nucleic acid test. the employees can get back to their normal life in china if the result is negative.

for those who enter the country without the fast track agreement, however, they still need to complete a 14-day quarantine at designated venues

for those who are currently overseas, they can apply a new visa with required documents and valid nucleic acid test result at the chinese embassy or consulate general in their current location.
 
 
visa extension
 
according to niu baozeng, deputy head of guangzhou entry and exit department, foreigners can apply for visa extension ‘as many times as you want until the pandemic ends’

it is noted that the length of each extended stay cannot exceed the duration of stay on your original visa.

our team set off on friday. after nearly 5-hour drive, we finally arrived at mount qiniang of shenzhen, and started outdoor cooking for a great meal on our own.

although it was rainy and windy at the weekend, we still decided to go on for the inspirational walking adventure.
